{"id":2217,"date":"2019-11-18T16:19:51","date_gmt":"2019-11-18T16:19:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vpnotaries.co.uk\/?page_id=2217"},"modified":"2021-04-28T14:24:46","modified_gmt":"2021-04-28T13:24:46","slug":"identification-requirements","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.vpnotaries.co.uk\/how-we-work\/identification-requirements\/","title":{"rendered":"Identification Requirements"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Identification requirements<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Current legislation (including the Money Laundering Regulations 2003 and the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002) requires us to check the identity and address of our customers and to keep some of that information in our records.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For that reason, the first time you use the services of one of our notaries we will need you to show us a photo ID and a proof of address. We may need to take copies but any details we keep will remain fully confidential and will not be used for any other purposes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These are some of the forms of ID we can accept. Note that we need to see the original document (not a copy) and we need documents which have not expired:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Passport<\/li>\n<li>National Identity Card<\/li>\n<li>Driving Licence (with photograph)<\/li>\n<li>Some official licences and cards, such as armed forces ID cards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These are some of the documents you can bring as proof of your current address. Again, you need to bring the original document and not a copy:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Utility bill (excluding mobile phone bills, but prints of online statements that show your address are fine)<\/li>\n<li>Bank statement<\/li>\n<li>Other official documents confirming your address (e.g. a letter from the electoral register).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you are signing a document on behalf of a company \u2013 especially if it is a foreign company \u2013 we may need to ask you to show us evidence that the company exists and that you are authorised to represent it.
