To that end we\u2019ll need to see some form of I.D. and a proof of your address. Ideally these would be your passport or driving licence, and a recent bank statement or utility bill.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition to your I.D. and proof of address you\u2019ll also need the documents that you want us to notarise for you!\u00a0 If the documents have been sent to you by email it might be an idea to email them to us in advance, so we can have a look.\u00a0 If you only have a hard copy, that\u2019s fine. Do please bring it with you, but don\u2019t sign it until you\u2019re with your notary!<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"individuals-2\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">What happens during the meeting?<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Most meetings are fairly quick \u2013 usually no more than half an hour.\u00a0 Once you\u2019re comfortable we will ask to see the document that you\u2019re signing and your I.D. and proof of address (we\u2019ll need to take a copy of these, but rest assured that this copy stays private and won\u2019t be used elsewhere).\u00a0 Usually the notary will discuss the document briefly with you, and then ask you to sign it.\u00a0\u00a0 If it only needs to be notarised the notary will probably be able to do this for you whilst you wait.\u00a0 If the document needs an \u2018apostille\u2019 or \u2018legalisation\u2019 we can arrange that for you too, but we\u2019ll need to hang on to the document for a bit longer.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"individuals-3\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">What are \u2018apostille\u2019 and \u2018legalisation\u2019?<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Most of the documents that you\u2019ll need notaries for are for use abroad, often by lawyers, courts and official registries.\u00a0 Quite often they will not only need you to have your documents notarised, but also have them attested by either the Foreign Office, or the embassy of the country that the documents are for, or, sometimes, even both of these steps!\u00a0 We have an excellent set of contacts within the various consulates in London, as well as with the Foreign Office (who supply the apostille), so we can handle this step for you or, if you have the time, advise you on how to do this yourself.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"individuals-4\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Payment<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Unfortunately you will have to pay your notary, but we promise to be as straightforward, honest and cheap as possible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We accept payment by cash, cheque and credit or debit card (except American Express and Diners).<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">2. This is possible for certain documents, especially if we have already met you at least once. If you\u2019re not sure do call us or send us an email and we\u2019ll be able to advise what to do very quickly.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"business-2\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Where can we meet?<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We can visit you at your office, or you\u2019re very welcome to come and see one of our notaries at Bank\/Monument.\u00a0 If a document needs to be apostilled or legalised we\u2019ll need a bit longer, but if it\u2019s just notarisation we can usually do the documents \u2018on the spot\u2019 for you.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"business-3\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">What we need to see from you<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There are usually two key elements that a notary has to establish when notarising a document that has been executed on behalf of a company \u2013 the <b>identity<\/b> of the signatory and his\/her <b>authority<\/b>.\u00a0 To establish identity we will normally ask to see some sort of officially issued photographic I.D. \u2013 for example a passport or driving licence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The forms of proof of authority are many and varied and depend upon several different factors.\u00a0 For example, if the company involved is English and the signatory is a director, we can usually establish their authority by checking at Companies House.\u00a0 If the company is incorporated abroad, but signing the document in London, or if you\u2019re signing under a power of attorney, we may need to see additional documents \u2013 it\u2019s best to call or email us in advance and we\u2019ll go through it with you and find a solution; we pride ourselves on always finding the best solution for our clients!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition to any I.D. and authority documents we\u2019ll also need the documents that you want us to notarise for you!\u00a0 If the documents have been sent to you by email it might be an idea to email them to us in advance, so we can have a look.\u00a0 If you only have a hard copy, that\u2019s fine.
